Started putting an exhibition together for The Lawrence Batley Theatre “Luddities in Kirklees” exhibition. I’m finishing it off tomorrow! It’s such a gorgeous space!
On Wednesday 20th from 5-7 in the exhibition space Kim Searle will be running a Recycled Huddersfield workshop. Suitable for children of all ages!
Come along and use recycled materials to build your own version of the town.
Some more photos from the degree show set up days!
More photos from the first day of setting up the exhibition.
While the degree show is open to the public students will be running various workshops throughout the day.
The first will be on Sunday 17th from 10:30-12:30. Kim Searle will be running a Recycled Monsters workshop where you can create whatever scary, cuddly or bizarre looking monster you could imagine!
Suitable for parents and children. Materials are supplied but also feel free to bring your own.
Kim Searle washing a newly exposed silk screen of her CV (and letters for crafty Praxis advertising) and the results. Kim wanted to have hand silk screened CV’s as she feel this adds a personal and unique touch. It also says something about her as the touch of the maker and the aesthetic comfort of the handmade is integral to her work.
Kim Searle has recently been taking over the window of A1 Stationers in Huddersfield as a practice for her final window display pieces.

Kim Searle’s work is currently about combining craft techniques and photography to create commercial artwork on a commission basis for a new shop (Crafty Praxis) opening in Huddersfield in September, run by 2 recent graduates. Her work for this shop will focus on promoting the shops crafty, arty and handmade ethos, while at the same time celebrating Huddersfield’s good sides, architectural beauty and rich textile heritage.
